28 May 2007 - Midge Eater Max has arrived!

   Midge Myths Dispelled

The midge eater max machine should be run from May to September inclusive, 24hrs per day.

One gas bottle should last a month and the octenol should be replaced with every gas bottle.

The machine should be effective up to a 100m radius in still conditions, that equates to 31415square meters or 7.7 acre's.  The machine is best placed 15 metres away from where you are sitting so that the midge are attracted out with your seating area.

Midge live in the ground and females lay 30-50 eggs each in their 4 week life cycle, eggs hatch 4 times a year, namely, May, June, July and August.

Eggs take 12 months to hatch, so this years midge are from last years eggs.

They rarely stray more than 100m from where they hatched, therefore reducing the midge just now will have a massive effect for next year, more so because it is only the pregnant females that bite.

There is lots of information on the web about midge.
